Since 2014, the Mirja-Sachs-Foundation has been supporting the activities of former Austrian footballer Stefan Köglberger and his NGO Hope for Future. Mr. Köglberger’s initiative aimed at complementing the education of children who live and attend school in disastrous conditions, near one of Nairobi’s largest waste dumps in the Korogocho slum. Since 2013 three children football teams have been set, two with boys and one with girls. The aim of this initiative is threefold: (a) take the children off the streets, (b) have them do sport, and (c) develop a team spirit. In addition, if in this way, some of these children can develop skills that can be valued as a professional so much the better.
