Ikageng provides services and support to about 900 children in the slum of Soweto. Many of Ikageng’s children live in child-headed households, where they take on the role of parent and look after younger siblings. The association provides a base for this children ensuring, among others that they attend school, receive medical care and psychological support.

Subject to approval of local authorities, the Mirja Sachs Foundation will fund a large sanitary container to remedy toilet deficiencies and another container to provide additional psychological care rooms.
